Brisbane to Darwin 2019 Escorted Motorhome Tour Highlights

October 11, 2019

Check out the highlights of our popular Brisbane to Darwin escorted motorhome tour, showcasing the 21 days our Gallivanters enjoyed in June/July this year.

This route up through Queensland starting off in Brisbane displays a remarkable diversity in the scenery from the arid outback winding its way up across Australia and finishing up in the lush tropical top end, in Darwin.

We suggest making yourself a cuppa, grab a chair, sit back and see what gems this route has to offer!

Over the 21 days, their journey up through Queensland and into the northern territory looked a lot like the following:

  • Heading out of Brisbane in their motorhomes, they enjoyed stretching their legs exploring the Ravensbourne National Park where there are a variety of walks and marvelled at the spectacular views Great Dividing range from picturesque Toowoomba
  • No trip to the Outback is complete without experiencing what life in Outback Queensland is really like with a stopover on a station
  • They had the opportunity to soak in one of the thermal baths where water comes from the Great Artesian Basin
  • Passing through Longreach, our Gallivanters were given the experience to feel the wind in their hair and get an understanding on what it would have felt like being a pioneer back in the hey-day on a fun-filled stagecoach ride. Also, in this historic town they experienced the award winning Stockman’s Hall of Fame and the Outback Stockman’s live show
  • They stood where dinosaurs once roamed the earth at the Australia Age of Dinosaurs Museum
  • They checked in at the ‘Hilton Hotel’, and experienced one of Queensland’s most remote pub and enjoy a good old hearty homemade meal served with a few laughs!
  • Heading on to Mount Isa, the world’s largest single producer of copper, silver, lead and zinc, the group also went on the award-winning Hard Mines Mine Tour and got to see what life is like in an underground mine and underground hospital
  • Crossing the border into the Northern Territory they enjoyed a fun filled evening at the quirky town of Daly Waters, where you’ll find Australia’s most remote set of traffic lights and a tree made of ‘things’ – you have to see it to believe it!
  • Heading deeper into the lush tropical end, our Gallivanters were spoiled for choice at Mataranka as they got to soaked any weary bones in the thermal springs framed by tranquil surrounds
  • Enjoying the dawn chorus of wildlife, they enjoyed an early cruise on the Katherine River through Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park
  • Another great start to the day was in Cooinda and with a dawn cruise at Yellow Waters in the Kakadu National Park, where the wildlife put on a marvellous show
  • Immersing themselves in Aboriginal culture, they headed to Jabiru via Nourlangie and out to Ubirr to see some spectacular views and Aboriginal rock art
  • The final days were spent exploring Litchfield National Park with its spectacular waterfalls, lush woodlands and sparkling plunge pools
  • The group finished their stay with a final farewell dinner and their last day exploring the route to Darwin, armed with fantastic memories of their trip, reels of photos and some new-found friends

On the escorted motorhome tour from Brisbane, there were many happy hours, beautiful sunsets, lifelong friendships made and long last memories created.
