Everyone’s needs and budget are different, however, one of the most popular motorhome hire options for couples is a two berth with a toilet and shower on board. The specific motorhome hire two berth layout shown in the video is of the THL fleet, which comes under the brands Maui, Britz and Mighty.
Currently, the features for all three brands in this layout are fairly similar, with the age of the motorhome being the key deciding factor as to what works best for you.
- The maui brand is 0 – 2 years
- Britz generally up to 4 years
- Mighty vehicles have been in the maui and the Britz fleet, so usually 4 years or older
This specific two-berth motorhome with a toilet and shower packs a lot of features into one unit. Compared with the 4-6 berth motorhomes, it will be smaller but it is similar in length (at 7m long), narrower and its internal height is not as high (so if you’re one of our taller clients, you may prefer the 4 or 6 berth) however inside, you’ll find comfy seating at the rear of the motorhome, which doubles as your bed at night time. While it’s pretty easy to make up, what is fabulous about this motorhome is that the front seats rotate to create an additional comfortable seating area, meaning you can leave the rear bed left made up and still have options for seating/dining.
- There is an inside kitchen with a cooktop, fridge and sink but what we really love about this motorhome is this the external barbecue on the outside. You can even slide a little table next to the barbeque which is perfect for additional food prep while the other person is tending to the BBQ! Makes it nice and social too!
- This 2 berth motorhome option is great as it does come with an onboard toilet and shower. It is, however compact so if you are not a fan of confined spaces this might not be the right option for, but it can be the perfect solution for many and great for night time.
- What is also nice about this motorhome is the fuel economy with its average consumption of around 10-11 litres per 100 kilometres is around 10-11 litres (depending on how you drive) compared with the larger motorhomes at around 13 to 15 litres per 100 kilometres.
- If you are a small family of three with a young child, the ‘Plus’ version in this range is available. What this means is at night time, the seat behind the driver converts to a bed (although this is on the shorter side, so best suited for a younger child).
- These two-berth options have the wrap-around seating which creates space at the back and along with internal cupboards, there is generally enough storage for your motorhome hire holiday. We do advise, however, if you have them, to pack using soft bags as it’s easy to fold up and store while on holiday. If you only have hard suitcases, you might want to consider having to move these around the vehicle to store them during the whole holiday in the two-berth or perhaps opt a larger four or six berth motorhome and use the top bunk spot for storage. Where possible though, bringing your luggage in soft bags is the way forward.
- If having a solar panel on the roof is important to you, the maui branded fleet have a solar panel which trickle charges the ancillary battery; most of the Britz do and some of the Mighty do. We have a few different layouts which have a solar panel of varying sizes – make sure we have a chat if that is important to you.
- This layout does have an optional awning which can be added; however, it is not overly popular with this layout as it is a pitch style awning, so it does require packing up and storing in the camper. The tracks to secure the awning to the outside of the motorhome is where the sliding door runs, so access to the motorhome is via the front door and through the easy walkthrough; as the sliding door needs to remain closed when the awning is in use.
- These particular motorhome options are diesel with automatic transmission and have a DVD player/flat screen inside (no TV aerial).
- There are flyscreens on the opening window in the sliding door and roof vents.
- All our motorhome hires come with linen, pots and pans etc – you just need to bring your food and clothes, and you’re good to go!
