Motorhome Rentals Perth

February 24, 2017

From city life to small bars in urban villages, from beautiful sandy beaches to the historic town of Fremantle, Perth is the beautiful and thriving city of Western Australia.

It is said to be laid-back, great weather, stunning beaches and an easy-going character. We’d have to agree!

If you are planning on hiring a campervan or motorhome from one of the Perth depots, then you might find this depot location blog useful. Not only have we put together comprehensive information on the best ways to get to the depot, we’ve also provided a few examples of places where you can go and grab some groceries suitable for a large vehicle, and even a few suggestions on where you could stay.

If you’ve just arrived in Perth and are planning on picking up your motorhome, you might want to consider the best way to get to the depot.

Probably the easiest and most direct way to get to pick up your motorhome is to organise a taxi.

None of the hire companies provide transfers to or from the airport and as the depots are pretty close to the airport, we’d suggest the taxi is the best option.  There is no need to pre-book a taxi, there are always a number of taxi’s waiting or a short wait, on arrival of all flights.  For returning to the airport from the depot, the depot staff will happily call a taxi for your when you’re ready.

Apollo / Cheapa / Hippie and Star RV depots are located at 65 Worrell Ave, High Wycombe, WA, 6057

Distance (Approx.) from airport 4.7km / City 17km

Taxi Fare Approx. Airport $25 (AUD) / City $35 (AUD)

Maui / Britz / Mighty depots are located at 471 Great Eastern Hwy, Redcliffe, WA, 6104

Distance (Approx.) from airport 2.7km Domestic and 1.1km International / City 11km

Taxi Fare (Approx.) Airport $25 (AUD) / City $35 (AUD)

Maui / Britz – 3.2km trip to SUPA IGA 40 Belvidere Street, Cnr Keymer Street, Belmont

If you’d like to visit a Coles, that also has a butcher, chemist and bottle store in the village, then pop along to Coles Bassendean, which is on the corner of Guilford and West Roads, Bassendean.  Great parking here too!

There are two Big4 campgrounds here in Perth, so if you didn’t want to travel too far on your first day then these might be an excellent option for you.

Driving around Perth

Driving around Perth is fairly straight forward. Avoid peak times in the morning and late afternoon and you’ll only be contending with regular local traffic around the city.

Regardless of the depot you collect the motorhome from, the main routes out of Perth are:

  • Kwinana/Mitchell Freeway (Route 2) which takes North or South out of the city and will meet up with the coastal roads
  • There are many roads you can pick up going East out of Perth, so it’ll depend on where it is you want to go, but the main 4 easterly routes out of the city are:
    • Albany highway (Route 30)
    • Brookton Highway (Route 40)
    • Great Eastern Highway (Route 94)
    • Toodyay Road (Route 50)
