We’ll be sharing our favourite highlights with you including some out of the way hidden gems like the outback Middleton Pub near Boulia. Roma, Longreach and Winton are all popular places to stop, with many areas in between for outback freedom camping which is perfect if you are travelling in a self contained motorhome. North of Mt Isa you can head up to Normanton and out to Karumba, which is a fishing paradise in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The area around Cairns has many lovely spots to explore like the Undara Lava Tubes, the Atherton Tablelands, Cape Tribulation, and the stunning northern beaches of Cairns. This is also a popular area to explore in a shorter camper hire from Cairns.
Heading back down the Coast – There’s more than just the world renowned highlights like the Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsundays and Fraser Island – which are all highly recommended day trips. Just driving this route is an attraction in itself really – with plenty of beautiful views. Areas like Mission Beach, 1770 and Agnes Waters should also not be missed.
